Jungle Heat - Rachel Haimowitz With a title like Jungle Heat, I expected a more vividly described setting. A brief mention of snakes, insects, humidity, and chittering birds just wasn’t enough for me. I wanted to feel the heat, feel how hard it is to maneuver through vines, undergrowth and tree roots, feel the danger of poisonous plants and animals, and the physical toll such a climate and landscape has on those not entirely accustomed to it.I wanted to be moved when Pete was captured by the enemy, wanted to feel his love for his teammate, Mitch, and wanted him to realistically cope with the aftermath of his brutal ordeal. I know it’s a lot to ask for in just 16 pages, but I couldn’t help but feel there was too much story packed into too few pages. The characters suffered dearly for it.Also reviewed at Hearts on Fire Reviews
